I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in practicing from an evidence-based stance while appreciating individual differences. I work with adults throughout their entire lifespan, ranging from young adults to older adults. I have an informal and energetic approach to therapy, which encourages active collaboration in both treatment planning and therapeutic execution. I like to think of myself as a guide, providing you with new skill as well as a responsive source of objective feedback on how these skills are impacting your overall functioning. I'm just as human as you are and expect to engage in a collaborative process where you find yourself able to open up and give me feedback just as easily as I share feedback and skills with you. As for my training, I trained as a generalist and earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Dakota in 2019, completing my clinical internship at the Kansas City VA in 2018. I have a broad clinical background but have worked the most with trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, other mood disorders (such as bipolar disorder), adult ADHD, and adjustment concerns. In addition, I have specifically focused on working with many diverse populations including racial/ethnic minorities, sexual minorities, transgender and other gender minority groups, the kink community, the nerd community, and Veterans. Non-diagnosable concerns that I have worked with in the past include relationship difficulties, sexuality exploration and coming out, transitioning and gender exploration, and open relationships/polyamory. I have completed training for the following evidence-based practices: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD (CPT), Prolonged Exposure for PTSD (PE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain (CBT-CP). My therapeutic stance is utilizing evidence-based practices informed by a humanistic-existential approach while incorporating aspects of cultural identity and minority stress.
